They're gone

When I went down this morning to check on the owlets they were nowhere to be seen. No chicks, no adults, no nest could be found. Figuring that they had either found a safer place away from the creek or caught by predators I walked around to the other side of the creek to check under the tree they'd been on the last couple days. Ranging around all I could find was a downy feather. :-(
