The Moon-Venus Conjunction

Last night the Moon and Venus were in conjunction. I took a couple stills before getting the idea to make a time-lapse video of the pair at moderate magnification, allowing the pair to slide through the camera view. It worked, sort of. Apparently the tripod wasn't as snugly tied down as I thought. Thus, the jerky motion. It will be some time before something like this happens again, so I'll share it anyway.

That was Venus?? I saw it when we were out walking last night, but thought that Venus would have been long out of the sky by that time. Huh!

To be honest, I was guessing based on past experience. It turns out I was right -- their positions were verified by Google Earth's Sky View putting the moon in motion.
